About The Role
Lone-Star Roof Systems is looking for a skilled Metal Fabricator to join our shop team at our College Station facility. In this role, you'll be responsible for fabricating the custom metal components — trim, flashing, panels, and more — that our field crews depend on to deliver quality roofing installations across Texas.
This is a hands-on, precision-focused position that plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in keeping our projects on schedule and our work up to the Lone-Star standard. If you take pride in craftsmanship and enjoy working with metal, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate custom metal roofing components including trim pieces, flashing, drip edge, and standing seam panels using brake presses, seamers, and related shop equipment
- Read and interpret project specifications, measurements, and shop drawings to produce accurate, job-ready parts
- Operate and maintain sheet metal fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
- Coordinate with Production Team, management, and sales to understand job requirements and prioritize production accordingly
- Operation of forklift for loading and unloading job materials
- Stage and organize fabricated materials for pickup and delivery
- Assisting Shop Foreman with roof repairs
- Maintain inventory of sheet metal stock and shop supplies, flagging reorder needs as necessary
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and operating safely at all times
Required
- Ability to climb ladders and access rooftops, both sloped and flat
- Ability to read and work from measurements, diagrams, and project specifications with a high degree of accuracy
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing clean, precise work
- Dependable, self-directed, and able to manage production workload with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle sheet metal stock — lifting 50+ lbs regularly
- Ability to pass drug tests, as well as criminal and motor vehicle background checks
- Valid driver's license
Preferred
- 2+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, preferably in roofing, HVAC, or a related construction trade
- Proficiency with sheet metal brake presses, seamers, slitters, and hand fabrication tools
- Experience with roofing-specific metal fabrication (trim coils, gutter machines, standing seam, etc.)
- OSHA 30 certification
- Forklift certification
- Bilingual: English and Spanish
Compensation & Benefits
- $14 - $25 per hour based on experience
- Monday - Friday, 8 hour day shift (some weekends)
- Eligible for overtime pay
